Youth and the Policy Process: An Overview

This was presented at a Workshop to Mark the 10th Anniversary of ESFR, on December 13th, 2004. The paper provides a brief overview of youth and the policy process. It begins with the theoretical concepts of the policy process. It then looks at the participatory approaches in the process, and the rationale behind the need to involve youth. The paper then highlights the major issues impinging on the youth, before suggesting strategies/options for action in terms on their participation.
