Abstract

As an advocate for children and young people with learning disabilities, you will be helping some of the most vulnerable people in society to get their views and wishes heard, understood and respected. Speaking out: a guide for advocates for children and young people with learning disabilities will help you to carry out this important role by providing practical advice on many aspects of your work including: communicating effectively sharing information being independent promoting young people's rights being fair and equal improving what you do. Speaking out is based on children and young people's own views of what makes an effective advocate and includes revealing insights into how they feel.
