Abstract

UN-DESA and UN-Habitat, as members of the Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development (IANYD) have led the development of a System-wide Action Plan on Youth (Youth-SWAP). This text is the briefing for Member States and Permanent Observers on the Secretary-General’s Five-year Action Agenda related to youth, pursuant to resolution 51/1 entitled "Policies and programmes involving youth" adopted at the fifty-first session of the Commission for Social Development. The presentation provides context to the development of the System-wide Action Plan on Youth and covers mandate, financial implications, achievements, next steps and the participation of young people and Member States in its development and implementation.
