World Urban Youth Assembly Go back to the Structures overview


The World Urban Youth Assembly is a platform for young people to debate matters of concern to them for consideration at the World Urban Forum. The idea is to ensure that the views of young people are taken into account. Held every two years, the Forum brings together a wide range of participants from around the world to discuss key urban challenges facing the world today.


The Youth Assembly is held three days prior to the main World Urban Forum. This format provides youth with the opportunity to discuss and debate issues important to them, particularly, so that they are able to make meaningful contributions to the larger forum. The World Urban Forum takes place every two years, and last took place in 2014. The next UN-Habitat global event will be the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III), taking place in Ecuador in October 2016. For more information, see:
