Commonwealth Youth Forum Go back to the Structures overview

About

Organised as part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), the Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF) aims to achieve cross-cultural connection and learning between participants and consensus on policies to address the challenges and opportunities facing young people. The CYF takes place every two years and provides young Commonwealth citizens with the opportunity to discuss issues, share their experiences, build consensus and identify best practices. Delegates from all Commonwealth nations attend the event and a final communiqué document is produced and presented to Heads of Government. Since the establishment of the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC), the Youth Forum is designated as the General Assembly of the CYC, where the Executive Board are elected, the new strategic plan is agreed, and activities and organisation are monitored and evaluated.

Participation

The Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF) will take place prior to the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting, currently scheduled to be held in the United Kingdom in 2018. Attendance at the Commonwealth Youth Forum is usually facilitated through national youth organisations and associations that are members of the Commonwealth Youth Council.
